Let's tell your story

Our Process

Niche Visual Video Production Process

At niche visuals, we are creative filmmakers that love to tell visual stories for brands, events and promotions. To tell such stories, we follow a collaborative process with you, making sure the final video abides to your vision and also exceeds your expectations. The process can be divided into three phases:

Pre-production

At this initial stage, we make sure that we understand the story you want to tell. This usually involves meetings between our team and yours. These meetings can either be in person or virtual, where we discuss what is important to you and how we can present these ideas visually. Along with our clients, we review videos of competitors or videos we have produced ourselves to draw on ideas and inspiration. We often talk about themes, consider music for the project, and sometimes look at still imagery to help us craft an idea for the video production. Some projects will require scouting of locations and potentially choosing locations to rent for the video production. We will help you along this process and give you input on how to best bring your ideas while staying within your budget and on time.

After the creative considerations, we will plan the schedule for the video production sessions. We have produced many videos so we understand what resources and how much time is needed to complete any particular video project. At this point, we collaborate with your team to schedule time frames in which we will capture potential interviews, film b roll footage, capture exteriors with drones, and consider any other creative shots. We understand that many video projects have deadlines and we will plan accordingly to ensure the final renders are completed on time. Once the plan is outlined we are ready to film!

Production

Production phase it's when we finally roll out the lights and cameras. This is where we execute on the plan and capture great imagery (and sometimes sound). A video production set can sometimes feel overwhelming to someone not familiar with the process. However, as filmmakers, we feel at home when on the set. You can rest comfortably that we will capture great footage within the budget and time frame we have planned out in the previous phase.

Post-Production

This is the phase of video production where the real magic happens. It is during post video production that we truly create and tell your story. The first step is the edit, where we create a sequence of shots we think will tell your story and send you a draft for a review. If the video production involves interviews and testimonials, we may choose to send the first draft as a rough cut of the interview itself, and on the next draft we will add b roll shots that add to the visual storytelling.

For the review process we use Frame.io that allows you to make comments within the timeline. As soon as you make your comments, our editor receives an email notification so they can begin to edit.

For some more robust post production video projects we create edit sheets, where each step process can be easily tracked. We do not set a limit on the amount of drafts we bounce back and forth with a client. However, most projects are complete with 2-4 rounds of edits. Once the sequence of video/audio clips is aligned to your satisfaction, there are few other steps we follow to make the final video really shine. First, we pay much attention to the sound quality of the overall video. A professional video has to have professionally mixed audio, where music and speaking voice sits just right in the mix. Many of us are also musicians, and some of us are experts at mixing music and audio for a video. The next step is color grade and color correction.

When video is captured, we cannot always control all variables to ensure color is ideal or uniform across all other clips. Therefore, we spent the last round of post production making sure the color is uniform and it matches the themes and the vibe we have set out during the pre production. This process is very common for making movies but not always implemented by other commercial video production companies. Lastly, for some video production campaigns we may be asked to resize video into different sets of aspect ratios (1x1, 4x5, 9x16), each suitable for different social media platforms. Finally, once the video reaches its perfection, we send the final render to you via Wetransfer. We cannot wait to learn about your brand, event, or promotion and TELL YOUR STORY!
